The article discusses the research subject and the general tenets of one of the contemporary subdisciplines in linguistics, i.e. ecological linguistics (ecolinguistics) in its three main research areas: the ecology of languages, ethnolinguistics and linguistic ecology. To date, Polish-language teaching has not attempted to reinterpret the aims and content of education from a pro-ecological perspective, which is why this paper outlines various ways of including the issues of language ecology in Polish-language lessons, especially in terms of linguistic competence. An analysis of curricula shows that adopting this approach is possible even within the current mandatory framework.
