The author undertakes to discuss the problem of matrimonial cheats who have acted on the territory of Poland. The first of the presented cases of seducers is that of Julian Jerzy Kalibabka who was active at the turn of the 1970s and the 1980s – probably the most famous of the Polish matrimonial deceivers. It is his surname which has even been made synonymous with seducers-cheats. Next, the author gives examples of deceivers who were active in the days closer to contemporary time and who – in their dealings – have been able to avail themselves of the possibilities which came along with the advance of the Internet, social media and dating websites. The cheats are made reference to with the aim to answer important questions concerning women who become victims to the former: in love, that is silly. What does this silliness consist in? Why do women surrender to cheats’ manipulations and are not able to see through their tricks and deceitful dealings? Are the reasons for the females’ succumbing the same as in the previous century?
