description

The historical knowledge of wine is today a scientific, cultural but also economic question. Early international trade and wine consumption in many parts of the world allows for a long-term reflection on globalization over several centuries. In the 20th century, the establishment of shared international standards, in particular through the activities of the OIV, continues to reflect on international economic development based on common standards. The digital processing and the availability of the OIV Bulletin based on a university work carried out in Dijon is a tool made available to all for historical reflection and comparative study. Today, wine regions on all continents have understood that the history of wine is technical, but also social and cultural. At the time of the global development of wine tourism it is time to reflect and share the experiences and the results of the historical perspective in the actions of marketing and promotion. This raises ethical issues that must be explained when it comes to the history of wine, the product for which it was thought to guarantee its quality to the consumer.
