The family law in Mexico is of public order and social interest, so the family forms that are recognized are based on this principle and a sociological assessment of the reality of people living as a couple. In this sense, both Mexican law and jurisprudence have impregnated legal value to other forms of de facto unions that impact on Mexican families, so this article will study the rights that are protected in these two forms of family: concubinage and coexistence society
