From ycar 1989 until today almost 40 various German minority press titles appeared in Poland. Since the individual periodicals are issucd in thc language of the minority or at least bilingual - in the minority language and in the language of the majority - they allow the membcrs of minorities the contact with one’s own mother tongue and thus form the basis for the preservation of their national identity. Also the knowledge of German history and culture makes it possible to create among the mcmbers of minorities the belief that they have certain common ground, which in turn creates a sense of togetherness. As the development of the identity begins already in childhood, the article shows which features and contents of the children pages in the minority newspaper „Schlesisches Wochenblatt" can exert influence on the construction of the German identity.
