description

This paper deals with the question of authority in slapstick films. In slapstick comedies, the authorial role is generally shared among the director, the cameraman and the principal actor, so that these films address the issue of conflict among film authorities. When novelists try to represent these directors, can they preserve this conflict? This question is asked through the parallel between two contemporary novels, Fabio Stassi’s La Dernière danse de Charlot and Florence Seyvos’ Le Garçon incassable.
