The article discusses features of modern culture of Silesia (Polish. Śląsk) – a Polish region which has an intricate history and ethnic structure. Here, due to the repeated change of statehood and resettlement policy, has developed its own unique identity and culture attracting folklore collectors. It was in this region that the oldest Polish recordings of folk music were notified in 1913, and local residents still tell stories from the life in Volyn, sing Russian and Ukrainian secular and religious songs.
