Über die Bromierung von Carbazol und 9-Vinylcarbazol

A method of synthesizing 3-bromocarbazole, 3.6-dibromocarbazole, 1.3.6-tribromocarbazole and 1.3.6.8-tetrabromocarbazole is described. The mechanism of bromination of 9-vinylcarbazole was examined, and found to proceed by addition of two bromine atoms to the vinyl group in the first stage, followed by substitution in positions 3 and 6 in the carbazole ring. The following intermediates were obtained: 9-(1.2-dibromoethyl)-carbazole and 3-bromo-9-(1.2-dibromoethyl)carbazole.
