GłuchołazyDidactic and Scientific Institute named after Vincenz Priessnitz in Głuchołazy operates in the building of the former sanatorium Ferdinandsbad, which was established in 1882 in the then health resort - Bad Ziegenhals. The golden age for water and climate therapy was then also in Opole Silesia, which was quickly noticed by tourists and the sick seeking help for their diseases. Głuchołazy as an area rich in forests, refreshing air and a healing microclimate, has become a popular place of visits for patients. The health resort boasted high standard sanatoriums, meeting the requirements of the enlightened middle class. At that time, the health resort was included in the so-called Kneipp resorts, i.e. towns using the hydrotherapy method of Fr. Sebastian Kneipp. However, due to the proximity of the village of Grafenberg (now Jesenik), where the famous hydropower Vincenz Priessnitz operated, Głuchołazy gradually lost the tradition of Kneipp treatment to the Priessnitz method. This tradition is being continued at the Didactic and Scientific Institute, which is currently an important rehabilitation center in Opole Silesia, wellness and rest area.
