The author presents an analysis of Erie Gandini’s documentary titled Swedish Theory of Love. The focus in the text is given to three areas of the image analysis: creation of the film, the image itself and its reception. The author refers to the genre of the film (creative documentary) and selected techniąues of social influence, particularly initial persuasion, selectiveness, proving credibility and emotional background applied in the film in order to enhance the message of the picture. Last but not least, the author analyzes the Polish reception of the film that, in the author’s opinion, proves the susceptibility of the audience to the images that mitigate the cognitive dissonance experienced in relation to Sweden.
