In the small french city of Beaune, american engineers of the American Expeditionary Force (A.E.F.) came to build a large hospital center of ten thousand beds. This hospital center, which construction began in January 1918, were later converted in the American University of the A.E.F. where young soldiers were teached engineering, plumbing, medecine, litterature, history and much more. During two years, hundreds of american soldiers lived in this town, and now there is nothing left. Except, for sure, some traces and remains. So we decided to study those remains by a new historical and archeological study, focused on the origins of materials used in the construction of this site, on the models of barracks, on the hydrological and sanitary infrastructures, on the light railway. Also, by making new plans for the study of american logistic during the First World War.
