Questioni cronologico-attributive e tecnica compositiva del «Carmen de Hastingae proelio» di Guy d’Amiens

In questo studio il «Carmen de Hastingae proelio» assegnato a Guy d’Amiens viene sottoposto a una lunga disamina, con la rassegna delle principali questioni cronologiche e attributive susseguitesi dalla prima metà dell’Ottocento ‚fino ai nostri giorni, l’analisi e la discussione dei più rilevanti problemi storico-letterari e interpretativi e, nella seconda e più ampia parte, l’esame di tre passi del poemetto a loro modo altamente significativi (il proemio, la geste di Taillefer e l’incoronazione di Guglielmo il Conquistatore). Tale disamina mira, in primo luogo, a rimettere in discussione un’impostazione e un livello di lettura dell’opera vòlti, in maniera preponderante se non esclusiva, a una valutazione dell’opera mediolatina alla stregua di una semplice fonte storiografica tra le molteplici atte alla ricostruzione della celebre battaglia di Hastings del 14 ottobre 1066. Viene qui, invece, posto l’accento soprattutto sul notevole valore letterario del poemetto mediolatino. This paper offers a long analysis of the «Carmen de Hastingae proelio», attributed to Guy of Orléans, with the review of the principal chronological and attributive questions from the first half of XIXth Century to our days, the examination and the discussion of the most important historical, literary and interpretative problems and, in the second and larger section, the study of three very significant episodes of the poem (the preface, the geste of Taillefer and the coronation of William the Conqueror). This investigation in devoted, at ‚rst time, to discuss an interpretation of the work which exclusively aims to a valutation of the medieval latin poem as a simple historiographical source to the reconstruction of the famous Battle of Hastings (14th oct. 1066). In this paper I try instead to put in evidence the worthy literary value of the medieval latin poem.
