The following article presents an image of historical, aesthetical and social space of Austria from the perspective of Ricarda Huch. For Huch, a doctor of history, writer, thinker and a personality of literary life, Austria was almost a lifelong point of reference for her views as an intellectual, it also had an impact on her interpersonal contacts. The writer, who after 1933 lived in an internal emigration, in the history of Austrian statehood finds references to the possibility of expressing opposition coming from the moral responsibility of an individual and then directed against all manifestations of enslavement.
