Excavations at the site of Le Vignaud 3, Langlade, situated at the heart of the Vaunage, have revealed a settlement constructed in dry stone which fits perfectly within the local Fontbouisse tradition (as exemplified at Boussargues, Le Rocher-du-Causse, etc.). As well as being of architectural interest, particularly in relation to the internal organisation of enclosed sites, the site also produced a large number of finds (pottery, lithics, animal bones, etc.) which provide evidence of Fontbouisse culture and Bell Beaker occupation. The stratigraphic evidence relating these two cultures, and the results of the preliminary analysis of the finds, provide new evidence concerning the adoption of the earliest Beakers within the territory of the Fontbouisse culture, and the subsequent development of late Beakers in the Rhodano- Provençal style.
