The article presents in its content the essence, causes and consequences of teachers professional burnout. The essence of burnout is focused on emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced sense of personal accomplishment. The teaching profession is classified as one with the most interpersonal relations and there is a belief that the pursuit of that profession is associated with the risk of burnout syndrome. Its symptoms appear in the operation of the physical, emotional and behavioral sphere. The effects of burnout in teachers are particularly important concern not only to the affected by it, but also adversely affect children and young people remaining with them in direct contact.
