description

[EN] Child-to-parent violence (CPV) is an increasingly frequent problem in young people, as a result of a process of social transformation and ineffective parental styles. As a consequence, it has shaped a change in the leading head within the family. The prevalence and incidence rates of CPV have increased in the recent years. For that reason, our main objective is to perform a bibliographic review in order to analyze the main axes that revolve around it, and provide information to increase the scientific studies. More specifically, this article begins by defining the CPV and its types, associated breeding styles and prevalence data in recent years. In the second chapter, the clinical, educational and social reality of CPV is showed, and its related to certain dysfunctional personality traits. Subsequently, CPV is associated with alcohol and other drug abuses, as these are a considerable risk factor for violent behavior. Finally, we pretend to considering the importance of undertaking a multidisciplinary and integral intervention where judicial, social and mental health services are jointly involved. We think it is relevant to explain the tools for their intervention in the psychological area and, to conclude, a brief is used to summarize of the objectives that any psychological intervention should collect to intervene in cases of CPV.
