The Iron Age hoard represents a characteristic custom of the European protohistoric societies. Their study is really dynamic since the beginning of the 21st century. The many symposia dealing with this subject – in Glux-en-Glenne in 2004 and 2012 (Bataille, Guillaumet 2006; Kaurin et al. 2015), Bienne in 2005 (Barral et al. 2007) and Antibes in 2007 (Bonnardin et al. 2009) – have renewed the knowledge of this kind of practice, in particular about the Iron Age. However some questions still unresolved, the comparison between wetland and dry-land hoards for example is rare. This kind of problems is quite common of the Bronze Age studies: like those of W. Torbrügge, R. Bradley, F. Pennors or M. Mélin. We propose to adapt these approaches to the Iron Age, because it is still unreleased (Schönfelder 2007). The expected results of this study provide an unprecedented understanding of elements, not only on these ritual practices, but especially on the territorial, socio-economic and cultural organisation of these societies.
