Nel 1943-44 Viktor Ullmann compone a Theresienstadt l'opera in un atto "L'Imperatore di Atlantide" (Der Kaiser von Atlantis), su libretto di Peter Kien. Il volume ricostruisce la genesi dell'opera e ne descrive i percorsi narrativi e gli influssi musicali (dal cabaret stilizzato di Kurt Weill, alla dodecafonia e al "Canto della Terra" di Mahler), indagando le ragioni per cui lo spettacolo non fu mai rappresentato all'interno del ghetto. In 1943-44 Viktor Ullmann composed in Theresienstadt the one-act "The Emperor of Atlantis" (Der Kaiser von Atlantis), on a libretto by Peter Kien. The bookre constructs the genesis of the work and describes its narrative paths and musical influences (from Kurt Weill's stylized cabaret, dodecaphony and Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde"), investigating the reasons why the show was never performed inside of the ghetto.
