Books about John Paul II aimed at the young reader were published even during the Pope's lifetime. However, their number increased rapidly after his canonization in 2014. Authors and publishers of such books presentthe image of Karol Wojtyła as a model of life and humanity based on love, goodness, honesty, and tolerance. This model is close to the Church's teachings and the educational standard that was used across many centuries. A real-life example has a much better chance to appeal to the child, as it shows that it is actually possible to follow said model. The authors attempt to depict the whole life of the Pope from his childhood and youth to his pastorał work, pontificate, and death. Therefore, they follow the biographical tradition. In this case, crucial are issues connected withthe presentationof the person, selecting facts from his/her life, degree of fictionalization, language, mode of narration, and delivery forms. Ali these elements depend on the age of the reader. The age factor also determines the genre of the work, i.e. if it is a biographical tale, short-story, novel, reading, a mini-biography or a comic book.
