The article deals with the question of the Silesian language standardization, whose basis is constituted by the interdialect of the cities located in the industri-al area of Upper Silesia. The accomplishments of proponents of the codification are discussed on the model of standardization created by Serbian sociolinguist Milorad Radovanović. The article exposes motifs that the codifiers aimed at, making decisions concerning unification. The author discusses in detail the positive and negative results of past determinations in the scope of graphy, orthography and some grammar phenomena. He suggests the direction of further research as well.
