School effect, class effect : a discussion of the external approach implemented at Iredu (Research institute on economics of education). A survey conducted by the Iredu (Research institute for education economy) endeavours to have the school effect and the classroom effect evaluated externally. On the basis of empirical statements on schooling, evaluation, orientation issues, a methodological analysis of the notion of school effect is conducted and backed up by a concrete example of orientation at the end of the second and fourth year in secondary school. Then, students results allow the study of teacher effect and teacher practice efficiency. Then, a discussion and intepretation of results and of the limits inherent in this kind of approach is presented.
