Polish authors in ZaolziePolish literatureliterary creativitypoetrydescription
The sketch on poetry of Zaolzie is an attempt to analyze the leading authors in the region in the years 1920-2016. The period was divided into sub-periods: the interwar years - the period of creative activity of such poets as K. Berger, O. Zawisza, L. Kobiela and the debutants: A. Fierla, P. Kubisz, J. Ondrusz, G. Przeczek, J.S. Polaczek. In the year 1936, there was established the Section of Literature and Art at Macierz Szkolna [Polish Schools Organization], which aimed to formally protect Polish artistic activity in Zaolzie. This did not satisfy the expectations of young creators, though, and therefore a year later there was founded Śląski Związek Literacko-Artystyczny [Silesian Literary and Artistic Union], In 1938, P. Kubisz edited the literary journal Sztorc [Edgewise], After World War 2, the rebuilding of the creative union was connected with the PCEU (Polish Cultural and Educational Union). On 7 October 1947, artists and men of letters of Zaolzie formed the Section of Literature and Art functioning at the Main Board of PCEU. At that time, apart from P. Kubisz’s creativity, the importance of H. Jasiczeka poet practicing contemplative poetry - grew considerably. In 1959, the Section published the anthology Pierwszy lot [The first flight], in which the new generation of poets such as: W. Sikora, W. Przeczek, G. Sajdok, J. Gaudyn, W. Berger and B. Bielan made their debuts. The next period was connected with the Literary Group ’63. The 1970s saw the debut of poets from the generation born between 1940 and 1959 (K. Kaszper, T. Wantuła and J.D. Zolich) and then -poets born in the years 1960-1974. (S. Jedzok, L. Przeczek-Waszkowa, R. Putzlacher-Buchtova, F. Nastulczyk, J. Sikora. L. Przeczek). Since 1989 Polish literaturę in Zaolzie has been developing in entirely changed conditions. An important role in the new reality has been played by ”The Pegasus Cafe” in Jabłonków.
