Partendo dal settore, delicato e mobile, della concessione delle licenze a medici e chirurghi nella parte finale del medioevo siciliano, gestita dall’autorità regia attraverso una magistratura creata apposta, il protomedicato, il lavoro tenta anche di indagare il versante legato alla mentalità e alle paure del tempo che spingono ad affidarsi, per guarire, ad uomini e donne dalla dubbia professionalità. Un percorso favorito dalla commistione tra due culture e due pratiche terapeutiche: popolare e dotta, ufficiale e alternativa, destinate a un perenne intersecarsi. Beginnig from the field, delicate and mobile, for granting licenses to physicians and surgeons in the final medieval Sicilian, managed by royal authority through a specially created judiciary, the protomedicato, the work also attempts to investigate the slope related to the mentality and fears of the time that lead to trust, to heal, to men and women of dubious professionalism. A route favored by the admixture of two cultures and two healing practices: popular and scholarly, official and alternative, for a perennial intersect.
