The article is an attempt to analyze and interpret the poem by Feliks Netz entitled Nie obchodzi mnie (I dont care), from the volume Trzy dni nieśmiertelności (Three Days of Immortality), which is an artistic reproduction of the last moments of Sándor Márai, an eminent Hungarian writer who died by suicide in San Diego in 1989. The author of this poem is one of the most prominent translators of the author of Embers into Polish, a great essayist and expert on Márai's work - hence the vision of the days and hours preceding the act of his suicide is supported by numerous autobiographical reports (derived from the Diary of the Hungarian writer from the latest period), which the author of the article attempts to reconstruct and embed in the tradition of humanistic discourses devoted to the expressibility of death, suffering and loneliness. Thanks to the kindness and trust of Beata Netz, the poets widów and heir to his copyrights, the author of the article found in the Computer archive of her husband the original version of the poem Nie obchodzi mnie, which previously had the form of an extended poem and was entitled Stary człowiek z San Diego (An Old Manfrom San Diego). While doing the first edition of this version of the work, as well as its philological reading, the author tries to answer the following question: why has this vast poem been extracted and changed into a more concise version published in Trzy dni nieśmiertelności (Three Days of Immortality).
