Il saggio fornisce notizie inedite sulla figura di Carlos Castiglia, sconosciuto “editor” del “Teatro Geografico Antiguo y Moderno del Reyno del Sicilia”, il prezioso codice cartografico del 1686, oggi custodito a Madrid, presso l’Archivo General y Biblioteca del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperacion; tali notizie permettono di avanzare ulteriori ipotesi sull’oscura genesi dell’opera, sulle aspettative del committente e sul ruolo del suo curatore.
