La città contemporanea, Palermo in particolare, con il suo centro storico definito dai quattro canti con la croce di strade, ha un rapporto complesso con il suo paesaggio fatto di monti che lo circondano e dal mare e da un sistema frammentario di agrumeti insieme a tracce di ville monumenti architetture dismesse distribuite in quello che era una volta la Conca d'Oro. La città si trova nello stesso tempo permeata da spazi consolidati, spazi residuali distribuiti nella città, accostamenti di pezzi diversi con elementi anche estranei fra di loro insieme a fratture a causa di guerre o peggio di incuria o abbandono. Palermo si ritrova così ad avere contemporaneamente spazi identitari insieme a spazi periferici. Queste osservazioni divengono occasioni di progetto per la città di Palermo. La città, con le sue contraddizioni e diversità, diventa un campo da cui attingere, un testo di architettura fondamentale per i giovani studenti. The contemporary city, Palermo in particular, with its historical center defined by the four songs with the cross of streets, has a complex relationship with its landscape made of mountains that surround it and the sea and a fragmented system of citrus groves along with traces of villas monuments disused architecture distributed in what was once the Conca d'Oro. The city is at the same time permeated by established spaces, residual spaces distributed in the city, juxtapositions of different pieces with elements even strangers among them together with fractures due to wars or worse of negligence or neglect. Palermo thus finds itself having at the same time identitary spaces together with peripheral spaces. These observations become project opportunities for the city of Palermo. The city, with its contradictions and diversity, becomes a field from which to draw, a fundamental architectural text for young students.
