The Spaces of Evolution

description

A great problem facing modern research into Biology is to formulate a theory of life that combines the phenotypic and genotypic evolutionary spaces. At the time it was perfectly conceptualised by Lewontin, not without some scepticism about its feasibility and an acknowledgment of the need for detailed knowledge on the laws that combine both spaces. More recently, Wagner argues that such laws are accessible if the studied phenotypes and their associated genotypes can be approached empirically and computationally. To the extent that we can determine such laws we will be able to understand the evolutionary, temporal dynamics thereof.
