The subject “Legal Institutions of the European Union” includes, to a great extent, the study of European Union (EU) Law. This legal order comprises not only the supranational normative aspects governing the structure and the internal functioning of the EU (its institutional system, the European legal order, its competences, etc.), but also its legal/political nature and the relationship of the EU with its Member States, as well as with third countries and other international organisations. This document labelled “EU Law Lecture Handouts” is essentially a short summary of each lesson, following the structure of the course official syllabus. This document also provides outlines and more visual diagrams as a basis for improving understanding of the most technical aspects of the institutional and legal framework of the European Union.
