Photocatalytic Degradation of 4-Nitrophenol by Using Porphyrin/Fe-Loaded TiO2 Composites Under Heterogeneous Photo Fenton Process

2012

A new class of porphyrin(Pp)/Fe co-loaded TiO2 composites opportunely prepared by impregnation of [5,10,15,20-tetra(4-tert-butylphenyl)] porphyrin (H2Pp) or Cu(II)[5,10,15,20-tetra(4-tert-butylphenyl)] porphyrin (CuPp) onto Fe-loaded TiO2 particles showed high activities toward the degradation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) by heterogeneous photo Fenton-like processes.

COMPARISON OF THE PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF 2-PROPANOL IN GAS-SOLID AND LIQUID-SOLID SYSTEMS BY USING TiO2 – LnPc2 HYBRID POWDERS

2009

Photocatalytic degradation of 2-propanol was carried out as a probe reaction both in gas–solid and in liquid–solid systems in the presence of TiO2 both bare and impregnated with lanthanide (Sm, Gd, Ho) bis-phthalocyanines (LnPc2) used as sensitizers. Continuous and batch photo-reactors, irradiated with an equal flux of photons, were used in gas–solid and in liquid–solid systems, respectively. Propanone and acetaldehyde were the main intermediates found in both systems during 2-propanol oxidation, whereas carbon dioxide and water were the final oxidation products exclusively in the gas–solid regime. The photocatalysts exhibited significantly higher activity in the liquid–solid system than in…

Synthesis of vanillin in water by TiO2 photocatalysis

2012

Abstract The photoproduction of vanillin is studied in aqueous medium starting from trans-ferulic acid, isoeugenol, eugenol or vanillyl alcohol by using both commercial and home prepared TiO2 samples as photocatalysts and batch Pyrex photoreactors. The photo-oxidation at room temperature of these compounds produces vanillin with a selectivity ranging from 1.4 to 21 mol% with respect to the converted substrate. An investigation on the intermediates was performed in the case of trans-ferulic acid; for this substrate the most important intermediates were homovanillic acid, vanillyl mandelic acid, trans-caffeic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, and oxalic acid. The carbon mass balance, including …

Self-cleaning materials active in the visible range based on porphyrin-sensitised titanium dioxide

2016

In the last decades, nanostructured semiconductors played a central role in the material science scene because of their numerous applications spanning from renewable energy to organic/hybrid electronics up to photocatalysis. Titanium dioxide is one of the most used semiconductors because of its low cost, chemical stability, sustainability and versatility. Indeed, it is widely employed as photo-active or charge- transporting material in electronic devices, as photocatalyst in water de-pollution treatments etc.. Remarkably, one of the most interesting application of titanium dioxide consists of the protection and conservation of cultural heritages. Actually, TiO2 photocatalytic properties are…
