Safety and efficacy of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce ileus after colorectal surgery

Ileus is common after elective colorectal surgery, and is associated with increased adverse events and prolonged hospital stay. The aim was to assess the role of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for reducing ileus after surgery.A prospective multicentre cohort study was delivered by an international, student- and trainee-led collaborative group. Adult patients undergoing elective colorectal resection between January and April 2018 were included. Isovector and isoscalar spin-multipole giant resonances in the parent and daughter nuclei of double-β-decay triplets

The strength distributions, including giant resonances, of isovector and isoscalar spin-multipole transitions in the commonly studied double-β-decay triplets are computed in the framework of the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) using the Bonn-A two-body interaction in no-core single-particle valence spaces. The studied nuclei include the double-β parent and daughter pairs (76Ge, 76Se), (82Se, 82Kr), (96Zr, 96Mo), (100Mo, 100Ru), (116Cd, 116Sn), (128Te, 128Xe), (130Te, 130Xe), and (136Xe, 136Ba). Nowadays studies focused on these elements are increasing to assess the possibility to their use in the traceability to effectively determining the geographical wine origin. Let $k $ be the algebraic closure of a finite field of odd characteristic $p$ and $X$ a smooth projective scheme over the Witt ring $W(k)$ which is geometrically connected in characteristic zero. We introduce the notion of Higgs-de Rham flow and prove that the category of periodic Higgs-de Rham flows over $X/W(k)$ is equivalent to the category of Fontaine modules, hence further equivalent to the category of crystalline representations of the \'{e}tale fundamental group $\pi_1(X_K)$ of the generic fiber of $X$, after Fontaine-Laffaille and Faltings. Measurement of the Mass Difference m(B0) - m(B+)

Using 230 million B Bbar events recorded with the BABAR detector at the e+ e- storage rings PEP-II, we reconstruct approximately 4100 B0 to J/psi K+ pi- and 9930 B+ to J/psi K+ decays with J/psi to mu+ mu- and e+ e-. From the measured B-momentum distributions in the e+ e- rest frame, we determine the mass difference m(B0) - m(B+) = (+0.33 +- 0.05 +- 0.03) MeV/c^2.

IL-1 is a key cytokine known to drive chronic inflammation and to regulate many physiological, immunological, and neuroimmunological responses via actions on diverse cell types of the body. To determine the mechanisms of IL-1 actions as part of the inflammatory response in vivo, we generated a conditional IL-1 receptor 1 (IL-1R1) mouse mutant using the Cre/LoxP system (IL-1R1(fl/fl) ). In the mutant generated, exon 5, which encodes part of the extracellular-binding region of the receptor, is flanked by LoxP sites, thereby inactivating the two previously described functional IL-1R1 gene transcripts after Cre-mediated recombination.
