Abstract. Management of marine fisheries and ecosystems is constrained by knowledge based on datasets with limited temporal coverage. Many populations and ecosystems were perturbed long before scientific investigations began. This situation is particularly acute for the largest and commercially most valuable species. Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) models are used for describing the flow of energy through organisms. The most important and powerful aspect of DEB theory is that inter-specific differences can be captured in the same model by comparison of parameter values. Abstract A Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) model is used to simulate growth and reproduction of the shellfish Mytilus galloprovincialis and Crassostrea gigas in an integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) farm scenario situated in the Southern Mediterranean (the Gulf of Castellammare, Sicily). We modelled the effect of primary production enrichment at fish cages on shellfish growth and life history traits using 4 years-hourly temperature data (01 January 2006–31 December 2009) at a depth of 1 m. Management of fish populations and ecosystems suffers from data and knowledge gaps, particularly with respect to how humans and nature affect dynamics at multi-decadal and longer time scales. However, collection of new data which indicates population or ecosystem status is slow and expensive. Here we analyse c. 110 years of neglected fishery data for an overexploited top predator, swordfish, in the Mediterranean Sea. Nel presente lavoro viene proposto uno studio sperimentale per la caratterizzazione meccanica di diverse tipologie di muratura. Vengono in particolare valutati i moduli elastici longitudinali e tangenziali che come è noto condizionano la risposta di sistemi murari sotto carichi laterali. I valori sperimentali sono confrontati con quelli stimabili per mezzo dei modelli proposti dalle normative tecniche italiana (DM 14/01/2008) e europea (Eurocodice 6). This paper deals with a novel single-point strategy for the detection of prevailing harmonic sources downstream or upstream the metering section in three-phase power systems. It is an enhancement of a previous strategy, already developed by the authors and it is based on the comparison of three non-active power quantities which are based on the IEEE Std. 1459-2000 approach. The method does not require any spectral analysis of voltages and currents because it is based only on the separation of the fundamental components from the harmonic content of voltage and current. Pur richiamandosi all’interpretazione maggioritaria con riguardo all’ingiustizia del vantaggio richiamata dall’art. 1438, essa si presta ad alcuni rilievi critici a causa delle peculiarita` del caso deciso: oggetto della minaccia era infatti l’esecuzione da parte del datore di lavoro (una banca) nei confronti di un soggetto completamente estraneo al rapporto di lavoro (la figlia del lavoratore).
The monodromy groups of Dolgachev's CY moduli spaces are Zariski dense

Let $\mathcal{M}_{n,2n+2}$ be the coarse moduli space of CY manifolds arising from a crepant resolution of double covers of $\mathbb{P}^n$ branched along $2n+2$ hyperplanes in general position. We show that the monodromy group of a good family for $\mathcal{M}_{n,2n+2}$ is Zariski dense in the corresponding symplectic or orthogonal group if $n\geq 3$. In particular, the period map does not give a uniformization of any partial compactification of the coarse moduli space as a Shimura variety whenever $n\geq 3$. This disproves a conjecture of Dolgachev. As a consequence, the fundamental group of the coarse moduli space of $m$ ordered points in $\mathbb{P}^n$ is shown to be large once it is not…
