The astrophysical r-process is responsible for synthesis of roughly half of the elements heavier than iron. In spite of this significance, there are many uncertainties regarding the site of the r-process and the neutron-rich nuclei involved. Studying these nuclei presents a challenge, as they lie far from the valley of stability. Nuclear properties such as β decay half-lives and βdelayed neutron emission probabilities are critical inputs for r-process models. The neutron rich Ge-Br isotopes are in the region just after the N=50 bottle neck in the “classical” r-process, or may serve as seed material for the high entropy neutrino-wind r-process. In this tutorial paper we present a comprehensive review of the escape dynamics from quantum metastable states in dissipative systems and related noise-induced effects. We analyze the role of dissipation and driving in the escape process from quantum metastable states with and without an external driving force, starting from a nonequilibrium initial condition. We use the Caldeira–Leggett model and a non-perturbative theoretical technique within the Feynman–Vernon influence functional approach in strong dissipation regime. Mean-Field Game Modeling the Bandwagon Effect with Activation Costs

This paper provides a mean-field game theoretic model of the bandwagon effect in social networks. This effect can be observed whenever individuals tend to align their own opinions to a mainstream opinion. The contribution is threefold. First, we describe the opinion propagation as a mean-field game with local interactions. Second, we establish mean-field equilibrium strategies in the case where the mainstream opinion is constant. Such strategies are shown to have a threshold structure. Third, we extend the use of threshold strategies to the case of time-varying mainstream opinion and study the evolution of the macroscopic system.

Type V collagen is a "minor" component of normal human breast stroma, which is subjected to over-deposition in cases of ductal infiltrating carcinoma (DIC). We reported that, if used as a culture substrate for the DIC cell line 8701-BC, it exhibited poorly-adhesive properties and restrained the proliferative and motile behavior of the cell subpopulation able to attach onto it. When Glomus intraradices-colonised tomato roots were extracted in methanol at 6 degrees C, chlorogenic acid (5-caffeoylquinic acid), naturally present in the extract, was slowly converted by transesterification into methyl caffeate. The progress of the reaction could be monitored by HPLC. The reaction only occurred when the ground roots were left in contact with the hydro-alcoholic extract and required the presence of 15-35% water in the mixture. When the roots were extracted in ethanol, chlorogenic acid was transformed to ethyl caffeate in the same conditions. The reaction was also detected in Glomus mosseae-colonised tomato root extracts.
