CHANGES IN SCHOOL ANXIETY AND EMOTIONAL SELF-REGULATION OF AN ADOLESCENCE EXPERIMENTAL GROUP FOLLOWING THE ABKT-B PROGRAMME

2020

The purpose of this study was to adapt the experimental programme MBCT-C (Randy J. Semple & Jennifer Lee’s programme “Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Anxious Children”, 2011) in early adolescents and compare the changes in school anxiety and emotional regulation indicators before and after in the experimental and control group. The necessity for intervention with respect to school anxiety and emotional regulation among children with emotional regulation and school anxiety issues in the early adolescence group was indicated by research into problems connected with youth behaviour and difficulties in regulating emotions. Communicating Medical Information Online: The Case of Adolescent Health Websites

2020

In recent times, our understanding and practice of public health has been increasingly guided by technological advances generally based on governmental decisions (Green et al. 2009). Not only does the growth of a public system for protecting health hinge upon scientific discovery and dissemination of medical knowledge, but also the World Wide Web has considerably changed the health communication environment. This paper considers the online health information addressed to adolescents. Given that young people have difficulty accessing traditional health services, in theory, the Internet might offer them a more confidential and convenient access to an unprecedented level of information about a…

Los estilos parentales y los adolescentes agresivos: su relación con la autoestima y el desajuste personal

2020

ABSTRACT Current emergent studies are seriously questioning if parental strictness contributes to adolescent adjustment. This study examined whether the relationship between authoritative (warmth and strictness), authoritarian (strictness without warmth), indulgent (warmth without strictness), and neglectful (neither warmth nor strictness) parenting styles shows equal or different pattern of adjustment and maladjustment for aggressive and non-aggressive adolescents. The sample consisted of 969 Spanish adolescents, 554 females (57.2%) and 415 males, ranging from 12 to 17 years old. Families were classified into one of four typologies by their scores on warmth and strictness, and the adolesce…

Back-Health-Related Physical Activity and Exercise Knowledge in Adolescents: A Cross-Sectional Study.

2022

Knowledge is a determining factor for the development of postural habits; it could be considered as the first step in the establishment of changes. The aim of this study was to analyze the level of specific back-health-related physical activity and exercise knowledge in adolescents. A cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 1500 high school students between the ages of 13 and 18 (mean age = 15.18 ± 1.44). Students from the Valencian Community (Spain) were recruited with a confidence level of 95% and an accepted standard error of ± 2.53%. Self-report questionnaires were used to record back-health-related physical activity knowledge. The level of specific knowledge of…

A visceral method to study gender-based violence among youth

2022

People do not always verbalise what they really think, and this becomes significant when analysing individuals’ publicly expressed views on gender equality and gender-based violence. We developed a new method we call visceral to find out about subjective beliefs that go unrecognised and we do not admit to ourselves. Here, we explain the characteristics of that method, its stages, and the decisions involved in implementing it. We show how it applied to young people in a specific project about sexual violence. Through the systematic use of previously selected photographs, the method enables us to discover the deeper invisible patterns that influence people’s behaviour and are an obstacle to a…
