A view of the vegetation and economic exploitation of the forest in the Late Neolithic sites of Les Jovades and Niuet (Alicante, Spain)

SummaryThe results of the charcoal analysis obtained in two open air sites of the Late Neolithic, although contrasting with what is known so far about their economy, as well as with the results of different palaeoamblental studies undertaken in other sites, mainly caves with long sequences, within the same area or in other near areas, form the main interest of this paper. We will begin presenting the data pertaining to both sites individually which, in the final part, will be assessed in order to reach a better understanding of the relationship between men and their natural environment during the Neolithic period.

This paper describes a multi-criteria evaluation model to support decisions related to the redevelopment of urban residual areas, a central theme in planning practices. The aim of the article is to theoretically substantiate the use of graffiti in the learning process and practically demonstrate how graffiti texts could be included in language acquisition (especially in the language as a first language lessons). Graffiti examples are taken from the linguistic landscape of Latvia to discuss with secondary school pupils the language use in the city, emotions in language, as well as to enhance understanding of linguistic and visual images on the various levels. Tulkojot “The secretary asked for details.” no valodas bez gramatiskās dzimtes (angļu) uz valodu ar gramatisko dzimti (piemēram, latviešu), nepieciešams noteikt subjekta “the secretary” dzimumu. Ja teikuma līmenī nav nepieciešamās informācijas, to ne vienmēr ir iespējams izdarīt. Šādos gadījumos mašīntulkošanas sistēmas izvēlās biežāk sastopamos un līdz ar to dzimtes stereotipiem atbilstošos tulkojumu variantus (t.i. “sekretāre”). Darbā tiek piedāvāta mašīntulkošanas sistēmu apmācības metode, kur avotvalodas vārdiem ir tieši norādīta dzimtes pazīme (sieviešu vai vīriešu). Background The newly proposed note 39 of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) revisited the diagnostic criteria of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in children and, applying it, a percentage of children previously diagnosed as GHD may have received a wrong diagnosis and a unnecessary treatment, with potential clinical implications.
