The illiterate brothers’ elementary ability to measure and count fluently is a striking feature in the Finnish author Aleksis Kivi’s Seven Brothers (Seitsemän veljestä, 1870), a novel that was published before the metric system was introduced in Finland. The seven main characters describe their everyday life and environment and make work- related decisions using numbers, amounts, and measures of distance, area, volume, and weight without hesitation. Bakalaura darba ietvaros pētīta autotransporta radītā atmosfēras piesārņojuma izplatība Rīgā, Valdemāra ielas kanjonā. Kā indikators ietekmes novērtēšanai izmantotas slāpekļa dioksīda koncentrācijas, kuras cieši korelē ar transporta līdzekļu plūsmas intensitāti; bez tam regulāri tiek pārsniegti slāpekļa dioksīdam noteiktie stundas un gada normatīvi. Piesārņojuma izplatība novērtēta izmantojot matemātisko modelis OSPM, kurš speciāli izstrādāts transporta radītā piesārņojuma dispersijai un raksturošanai. Orientation Aids for Mobile Maps

Using mobile maps to represent urban, work, or entertainment environments offers new possibilities to plan and carry out tasks. One potentially critical problem in mobile map usage is the misalignment between the user's frame of reference and the frame of reference of the map. In the experiment reported here, three different ‘orientation aids’ were tested in the context of restricted space, such as a large factory hall. The aim of the study was to find out how user interface design can help the user mentally align misaligned frames of reference for efficient mobile map use. Current trends of urbanisation and self-reliance place elderly people in an increasingly difficult situation. Magazynowanie zbóż jest jednym z najważniejszych etapów łańcucha produkcji żywności. Zanieczyszczenia mikrobiologiczne, a w szczególności grzybami strzępkowymi mogą obniżać jakość przechowywanego ziarna oraz pośrednio generować straty ekonomiczne i niekorzystnie oddziaływać na zdrowie ludzi. Celem przeprowadzanych badań była ocena różnorodności grzybów strzępkowych obecnych w powietrzu i frakcji opadającej na powierzchnię magazynów zbożowych oraz w przechowywanym ziarnie zbóż. Badania przeprowadzono w magazynach płaskich w czasie składowania zbóż. Ogólną liczbę grzybów strzępkowych w powietrzu magazynowym oznaczono metodą wolumetryczną przy użyciu aparatu MAS-100 firmy MERCK w siedmiu wyzna…
