Structural and functional analysis of integrin alpha2I domain interaction with echovirus 1.

2004

Integrins are cell surface receptors for several microbial pathogens including echovirus 1 (EV1), a picornavirus. Cryo-electron microscopy revealed that the functional domain (alpha(2)I) of human alpha(2)beta(1) integrin binds to a surface depression on the EV1 capsid. This three-dimensional structure of EV1 bound to alpha(2)I domain provides the first structural details of an integrin interacting with a picornavirus. The model indicates that alpha(2)beta(1) integrin cannot simultaneously bind both EV1 and the physiological ligand collagen. Compared with collagen binding to the alpha(2)I domain, the virus binds with a 10-fold higher affinity but in vitro uncoating of EV1 was not observed as…

Interleukin 23p19 inhibitors in chronic plaque psoriasis with focus on mirikizumab: A narrative review.

2020

Psoriasis, a T-cell mediated chronic dermatosis, has a complex etiopathogenesis. There has been extensive research into the aberrant immune response, which leads to the formation of clinical lesions, and the need for developing better and safer drugs has been unrelenting. The past two decades of research has opened up new areas of the immune pathway that can be targeted in order to control the disease. Therefore, we have seen the emergence of biologics which either target T-cell receptors or inhibit Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) or inhibit interleukins (IL) like IL-12, IL-17, IL-17 receptor, and more recently IL-23. Drugs specifically targeting the p19 subunit of IL-23 have shown prom…

Pohjois-Amerikka rahastot : case-tutkimus rahastojen suoriutumisesta

2016

Effect of estrogen in malignant melanoma

2021

Background Melanoma is associated with poor prognosis in its advanced stages. Potential influence of estrogen and its metabolites on melanoma growth has been suggested. Aims The objective of this review was to provide an overview on the evidence related to estrogen in malignant melanoma. Materials and methods Literature search using PubMed, Google Scholar and relevant cross-references of the retrieved articles was performed to review relevant published articles related to estrogen and its effects in malignant melanoma. Results Effect of estrogen signaling on a tissue largely depends on the relative expression of estrogen receptors (ER) α and β. Gender differences in melanoma may be explaine…

Development of a short questionnaire based on the Practice Environment Scale-Nursing Work Index in primary health care

2019

BackgroundProfessional nursing environments determine the quality of care and patient outcomes. Assessing the quality of environments is essential to improve and obtain better health outcomes. Simplifying and shortening the way to evaluate environments reliably is also important to help nurses better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their environments. In that sense, identifying essential elements of nursing environments would allow the construction of short assessment tools to improve such environments.ObjectiveTo construct a short tool to assess primary health care (PHC) nursing environments based on the Practice Environment Scale-Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI) questionnaire.Metho…

Activation of alpha-1A adrenoceptors mobilizes calcium from the intracellular stores in myocytes from rat portal vein.

1994

International audience; Intracellular free Ca++ concentration ([Ca++]i) was monitored using the fluorescence from the dye fura-2-acetoxymethylester in single myocytes from rat portal vein. In the presence of oxodipine (a L-type Ca++ channel inhibitor), norepinephrine (10 microM) evoked transient increases in [Ca++]i which were related to release of Ca++ from intracellular stores. The alpha-1 adrenoceptors mediating intracellular Ca++ release and inositol phosphate accumulation were identified by using subtype-selective agonists and antagonists. Pretreatment with chloroethylclonidine had little effect on the norepinephrine-induced increase in [Ca++]i and inositol phosphate accumulation. In c…

Regularization of perturbed state-dependent sweeping processes with nonregular sets

2018

International audience; In this paper, we prove the convergence strongly pointwisely (up to a subsequence) of Moreau-Yosida regularization of perturbed state-dependent sweeping process with nonregular (subsmooth and positively alpha-far) sets in separable Hilbert spaces. Some relevant consequences are indicated.

The Somatic Symptom Disorder - B Criteria Scale (SSD-12): Factorial structure, validity and population-based norms.

2017

The Somatic Symptom Disorder - B Criteria Scale (SSD-12) assesses the psychological features of DSM-5 Somatic Symptom Disorder (SSD). The present study investigates the dimensionality and psychometric properties in a general population sample and provides norm values.Test dimensionality was evaluated via confirmatory factor analysis and nonparametric item response theory. Correlational analyses and logistic regression models based on related measures (SSS 8, PHQ-2, GAD-2, Health Care Utilization) were used to derive predictive validity. Age and gender specific norms were derived via quantile regression. The SSD-12 has good item characteristics and excellent reliability (Cronbach's α=0.95). C…

Motivation zur psychosomatisch-psychotherapeutischen Bearbeitung von beruflichen Belastungen - Entwicklung und Validierung eines Fragebogens

2005

Background There is a lack of questionnaires assessing the motivation of inpatients to scrutinize occupational stresses and deal with them as part of their psychotherapeutic treatment. Work-related stress contributes significantly to the development of mental disorders. Vocational reintegration is an outcome criterion for the success of vocational rehabilitation. Patients are often not motivated for dealing with occupational stresses during inpatient medical rehabilitation. Therefore it is necessary to assess patient motivation at the beginning of treatment, in order to assign them to specific interventions, e. g. promoting motivation. Method A questionnaire (Fragebogen zur berufsbezogenen …
