Wii-bändi : designing an expressive digital musical interface for therapeutic use with disabled people in a group setting

This thesis presents the developmental prototype of a gesturally controlled digital musical interface. It is called Wii-bändi, as it uses Nintendo Wii controllers to translate the gestures into music, and is constructed specifically for clients with a variety of physical and mental disabilities so that they can use it in a therapeutic group context. It is argued that gestural and emotional expressivity might be based on a theory of vitality affects, and that optimal learnability could be achieved through making use of learning schemas. School-related stress among sixth-grade students : Associations with academic buoyancy and temperament

The present study examined to what extent sixth-grade students' academic buoyancy and temperament contributed to their school-related stress. A total of 845 students rated their school-related stress at the beginning and end of the school year and their academic buoyancy at the beginning of the year. Parents rated students' effortful control and negative affectivity. The results showed that high academic buoyancy, high effortful control, and low negative affectivity at the beginning of the school year were related to lower school-related stress at the end of the school year, after controlling for gender, GPA, and previous level of stress. Mērķis: Izpētīt, kā dažādas tematiskās fotogrāfijas modulē sāpju noteikšanas sliekšņus, un novērtētu emocionālās fotogrāfijas izmantojot pašnovērtējuma manekenu metodi (SAM). Metodes: 21 sievietei sāpju noteikšanas sliekšņi tika izmērīti ar pakāpeniski pieaugoša sprieguma padevi dalībnieku apakšdelmiem. Rezultāti: Sāpju noteikšanas sliekšņi tika samazināti ar negatīvām valences fotogrāfijām (attēlojot vardarbību, dzīvnieku un cilvēku uzbrukumus, zaudējumus). Groove is a popular and widely used concept in the field of music. Yet, its precise definition remains elusive. Upon closer inspection, groove appears to be used as an umbrella term with various connotations depending on the musical era, the musical context, and the individual using the term. Our aim in this article was to explore different definitions and connotations of the term groove so as to reach a more detailed understanding of it. Psychological Detachment as a Mediator Between Successive Days Job Stress and Negative Affect of Teachers

The study investigated the mediating role of teachers' psychological detachment between successive days' job stress and negative affect. Fifty-seven Finnish teachers answered to a mobile diary four times a day on two successive workdays assessing their negative affect, three times a day assessing their job stress and once a day after work assessing their psychological detachment from work. Two-level modeling on both the between individual level and within day level was used to test the mediational model.
