Small airways in sedentary and endurance-trained dystrophic (mdx) mice.

The effects of mild endurance exercise training on the small airways in mdx mice are unknown. We compared epithelial thickness and turnover, apoptosis, and stress marker expression in small airways of mdx mice and wild-type (WT) controls, at rest and during exercise training. Mdx and WT mice were randomly assigned to sedentary (mdx-S, n=17; WT-S, n=19) or trained (mdx- EX, n=14; WT-EX, n=16) groups. Low-intensity endurance training (running on a wheel) was done 5 d/wk for 6 wk at progressively increasing speed (rpm from 16 to 24) and time (15 min to 1 h). AN EKF BASED PROCEDURE FOR AUTOMATIC PATH FOLLOWING IN TURBULENT AIR

Aim of the present paper is to propose a procedure to afford an accurate automatic path following in turbulent air. The technique is based on the simultaneous employment of two different EKF. The first estimates disturbances, the second one estimates deflection that are necessary to reject the estimated disturbances. The first EKF uses measurements gathered in turbulent air. The second EKF obtains command laws able to follow the desired flight path rejecting disturbances. To purchase the objective, aerodynamic coefficients have been modified by adding entirely new derivatives or synthetic increments to basic ones. Thermoeconomic diagnosis of refrigeration systems is a pioneeristic approach, which has been proven to achieve good performances (under favorable conditions) for the detection of specific faults such as condenser and evaporator fouling and compressor valve leakage. Ventilation rates and unsatisfied percentage from indoor CO2 concentration.

This work reports the results of a survey carried out on a hall in a historic building in Palermo (Italy) with the aim of assessing the air quality by means of objective measurement of carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration and its subjective evaluation through a questionnaire. The measured values of CO2 concentration were compared with those evaluated using the Meckler equation under steady-state conditions, having verified necessary parameters such as the constancy of the indoor and outdoor CO2 levels and the uniformity of the CO2 generation rate for all the occupants. The control of air contamination in a Nuclear Medicine Center (NMC) provided with a cyclotron for the production of radiopharmaceuticals is based on an automatic systems for air sampling and measurements. An important control for the assessment of dose to the population is aimed at the measurement of air concentration of stack release and inside the cyclotron vault during irradiation.
