Minimal varieties of algebras of exponential growth
2003
Abstract The exponent of a variety of algebras over a field of characteristic zero has been recently proved to be an integer. Through this scale we can now classify all minimal varieties of given exponent and of finite basic rank. As a consequence, we describe the corresponding T-ideals of the free algebra and we compute the asymptotics of the related codimension sequences, verifying in this setting some known conjectures. We also show that the number of these minimal varieties is finite for any given exponent. We finally point out some relations between the exponent of a variety and the Gelfand–Kirillov dimension of the corresponding relatively free algebras of finite rank.
On Codimension Growth of Finitely Generated Associative Algebras
1998
Abstract LetAbe a PI-algebra over a fieldF. We study the asymptotic behavior of the sequence of codimensionscn(A) ofA. We show that ifAis finitely generated overFthenInv(A)=limn→∞ c n (A) always exists and is an integer. We also obtain the following characterization of simple algebras:Ais finite dimensional central simple overFif and only ifInv(A)=dim=A.
On simple families of functions and their Legendrian mappings
2004
We study germs of $n$-parameter families of functions, that is, function-germs of the type $f : (\mathbb{R}^n \times \mathbb{R}, 0) \to (\mathbb{R}, 0)$ defined on the total space of the trivial bundle $ \mathbb{R}^n \times \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}^n $. There is a natural notion of $V$-equivalence for such function-germs. We introduce the Young diagram of $n$-parameter families satisfying a non-degeneracy condition. We classify all such simple $n$-parameter families and give their versal deformations. This result has direct applications to contact and projective geometry.
A-Codes from Rational Functions over Galois Rings
2006
In this paper, we describe authentication codes via (generalized) Gray images of suitable codes over Galois rings. Exponential sums over these rings help determine--or bound--the parameters of such codes.
Factorization of absolutely continuous polynomials
2013
In this paper we study the ideal of dominated (p,s)-continuous polynomials, that extend the nowadays well known ideal of p-dominated polynomials to the more general setting of the interpolated ideals of polynomials. We give the polynomial version of Pietsch s factorization Theorem for this new ideal. Our factorization theorem requires new techniques inspired in the theory of Banach lattices.
On generalized a-Browder's theorem
2007
We characterize the bounded linear operators T satisfying generalized a-Browder's theorem, or generalized a-Weyl's theorem, by means of localized SVEP, as well as by means of the quasi-nilpotent part H0(I T) asbelongs to certain sets of C. In the last part we give a general framework in which generalized a-Weyl's theorem follows for several classes of operators. 1. Preliminaries. Let L(X) denote the space of bounded linear oper- ators on an infinite-dimensional complex Banach space X. For T ∈ L(X), denote by α(T) the dimension of the kernel ker T, and by β(T) the codi- mension of the range T(X). The operator T ∈ L(X) is called upper semi- Fredholm if α(T) < ∞ and T(X) is closed, and lower …
Boundaries for algebras of analytic functions on function module Banach spaces
2013
We consider the uniform algebra of continuous and bounded functions that are analytic on the interior of the closed unit ball of a complex Banach function module X. We focus on norming subsets of , i.e., boundaries, for such algebra. In particular, if X is a dual complex Banach space whose centralizer is infinite-dimensional, then the intersection of all closed boundaries is empty. This also holds in case that X is an -sum of infinitely many Banach spaces and further, the torus is a boundary.
Strict u-ideals in Banach spaces
2009
We study strict u-ideals in Banach spaces. A Banach space X is a strict u-ideal in its bidual when the canonical decomposition X = X X ? is unconditional. We characterize Banach spaces which are strict u-ideals in their bidual and show that if X is a strict u-ideal in a Banach space Y then X contains c0. We also show that '1 is not a u-ideal.
Some geometric properties of disk algebras
2014
Abstract In this paper we study some geometrical properties of certain classes of uniform algebras, in particular the ball algebra A u ( B X ) of all uniformly continuous functions on the closed unit ball and holomorphic on the open unit ball of a complex Banach space X . We prove that A u ( B X ) has k -numerical index 1 for every k , the lushness and also the AHSP. Moreover, the disk algebra A ( D ) , and more in general any uniform algebra whose Choquet boundary has no isolated points, is proved to have the polynomial Daugavet property. Most of those properties are extended to the vector valued version A X of a uniform algebra A .
A Riemann manifold structure of the spectra of weighted algebras of holomorphic functions
2009
[EN] In this paper we give general conditions on a countable family V of weights on an unbounded open set U in a complex Banach space X such that the weighted space HV (U) of holomorphic functions on U has a Frechet algebra structure. For such weights it is shown that the spectrum of HV(U) has a natural analytic manifold structure when X is a symmetrically regular Banach space, and in particular when X = C-n.
