MoSi2 laser cladding—elaboration, characterisation and addition of non-stabilized ZrO2 powder particles

2003

International audience; The cladding process using laser beam radiation comprises different operational regimes, depending on the involved lasers (usually CO2 or Nd:YAG) and materials. A series of experiments has been carried out to investigate Nd:YAG laser cladding using MoSi2 powder. Procedures and operating parameters for producing clad layers has been developed and their properties evaluated. The feasibility of the laser cladding technique, using a high power Nd:YAG laser, by projecting MoSi2 powder on steel substrate was demonstrated. The results indicate a low density of cracks, elevated powder catchment efficiency (between 65 and 90%) and hardness values around 1200–1300 HV. Our goal…

Magnesium alloys (WE43 and ZE41) characterisation for laser applications

2004

International audience; One of the most important parameters in laser treatment is the quantity of beam energy absorbed by the substrate. Despite its important role played in laser processes, this factor is rarely available for the laser sources wavelengths and at high temperatures reached during such treatments. A series of experiments were carried out in order to characterise, from this point of view, two types of magnesium alloys, WE43 and ZE41, often used in laser applications (cladding, alloying, welding, etc.). The results represent an important step in order to understand Mg-alloys behaviour under laser beam action.

Joining by forming technologies: current solutions and future trends

2022

AbstractThe progressively more demanding needs of emissions and costs reduction in the transportation industry are pushing engineers towards the use of increasingly lightweight structures. This goal can be achieved only if dissimilar and/or new materials, including polymers and composites, are joined together to create complex structures. Conventional fusion welding processes have often been proven inadequate to this task because of the high heat input reducing the joint mechanical properties or even making the joining process impossible. Joining by forming technologies take advantage on the plastic deformation to create sound joints out of even very dissimilar materials. Over the last 25 y…

Unveiling anion-induced folding in tripodal imidazolium receptors by ion-mobility mass spectrometry.

2021

The anion-induced folding of tripodal imidazolium receptors has been investigated by NMR spectroscopy, electrospray ionization ion mobility mass spectrometry and DFT calculations. Such folding can be switched by anion release upon collision induced dissociation.

Two are not always better than one: ligand optimisation for long-living light-emitting electrochemical cells

2009

The complex [Ir(ppy)2(dpbpy)][PF6] (Hppy = 2-phenylpyridine, dpbpy = 6,6'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine) has been prepared and evaluated as an electroluminescent component for light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs); the complex exhibits two intramolecular face-to-face π-stacking interactions and long-lived LECs have been constructed; the device characteristics are not significantly improved in comparison to analogous LECs with 6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine. Preparation and characterisation of Ce:YAG -polycarbonate composites for white LED

2016

Ce:YAG-polycarbonate composites were prepared with several amounts of Ce:YAG in the range 0.1-5 wt.% by using melt compounding. The structure and morphology of the composites were investigated by means of X-ray diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy. The optical properties of the composites were studied by using photoluminescence spectroscopy. The intermolecular interaction between the polymer and the filler surface was investigated using 13C cross-polarization magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy (13C {1H} CP-MAS NMR). The results showed that the dispersion of the particles in the polymer, and the optical properties, depend on the Ce:YAG amount. The composites were combined w…

Inhibitoren der Korrosion 31 (1). Beitrag zur Inhibierung der Korrosion von Zink und Messing

1986

Xylochemicals and where to find them

2021

This article surveys a range of important platform and high value chemicals that may be considered primary and secondary 'xylochemicals'. A summary of identified xylochemical substances and their natural sources is provided in tabular form. In detail, this review is meant to provide useful assistance for the consideration of potential synthetic strategies using xylochemicals, new methodologies and the development of potentially sustainable, xylochemistry-based processes. It should support the transition from petroleum-based approaches and help to move towards more sustainability within the synthetic community. This feasible paradigm shift is demonstrated with the total synthesis of natural …

Optical system for automatic color monitoring in heterogeneous media during vinification processes

2019

Abstract Wine is one of the most important food products worldwide. However, the application of technologies to the winemaking process can improve. An RGBC optical sensor, used to measure color intensity and shade, was developed and tested in real environments. It is able to measure samples without filtering by offering the color intensity and shade of a filtered sample. Color intensity can be measured within the range of 1.5 and 9.5 color points with an approximate 3% error. The model for shade can be applied to red wines with an approximate 1% error. It can operate directly in cellars under real operating conditions. It avoids collecting samples, and filtering and measuring in a spectroph…
