Some common fixed point results for weakly compatible mappings in cone metric type space
2013
In this paper we consider cone metric type spaces which are introduced as a generalization of symmetric and metric spaces by Khamsi and Hussain in 2010. Then we prove several common fixed point for weakly compatible mappings in cone metric type spaces. All results are proved in the settings of a solid cone, without the assumption of continuity of the mappings.
Weak A-frames and weak A-semi-frames
2021
After reviewing the interplay between frames and lower semi-frames, we introduce the notion of lower semi-frame controlled by a densely defined operator $A$ or, for short, a weak lower $A$-semi-frame and we study its properties. In particular, we compare it with that of lower atomic systems, introduced in (GB). We discuss duality properties and we suggest several possible definitions for weak $A$-upper semi-frames. Concrete examples are presented.
An elliptic equation on n-dimensional manifolds
2020
We consider an elliptic equation driven by a p-Laplacian-like operator, on an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold. The growth condition on the right-hand side of the equation depends on the geometry of the manifold. We produce a nontrivial solution by using a Palais–Smale compactness condition and a mountain pass geometry.
Nonlinear concave-convex problems with indefinite weight
2021
We consider a parametric nonlinear Robin problem driven by the p-Laplacian and with a reaction having the competing effects of two terms. One is a parametric (Formula presented.) -sublinear term (concave nonlinearity) and the other is a (Formula presented.) -superlinear term (convex nonlinearity). We assume that the weight of the concave term is indefinite (that is, sign-changing). Using the Nehari method, we show that for all small values of the parameter (Formula presented.), the problem has at least two positive solutions and also we provide information about their regularity.
Numerical Investigations of an Implicit Leapfrog Time-Domain Meshless Method
2014
Numerical solution of partial differential equations governing time domain simulations in computational electromagnetics, is usually based on grid methods in space and on explicit schemes in time. A predefined grid in the problem domain and a stability step size restriction need. Recently, the authors have reformulated the meshless framework based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics, in order to be applied for time domain electromagnetic simulation. Despite the good spatial properties, the numerical explicit time integration introduces, also in a meshless context, a severe constraint. In this paper, at first, the stability condition is addressed in a general way by allowing the time step inc…
A numerical meshless particle method in solving the magnetoencephalography forward problem
2012
In this paper, a numerical meshless particle method is presented in order to solve the magnetoencephalography forward problem for analyzing the complex activation patterns in the human brain. The forward problem is devoted to compute the scalp potential and magnetic field distribution generated by a set of current sources representing the neural activity, and in this paper, it has been approached by means of the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method suitably handled. The Poisson equation generated by the quasi-stationary Maxwell’s curl equations, by assuming Neumann boundary conditions has been considered, and the current sources have been simulated by current dipoles. The adopted meshless…
A survey on solvable sesquilinear forms
2018
The aim of this paper is to present a unified theory of many Kato type representation theorems in terms of solvable forms on a Hilbert space \((H,\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle)\) In particular, for some sesquilinear forms Ω on a dense domain \(D\subseteq\mathcal {H}\) one looks for a representation \(\Omega(\xi,\eta)= \langle T\xi,\eta\rangle\) \((\xi\epsilon\mathcal{D}\mathcal(T),\eta\epsilon D)\) where T is a densely defined closed operator with domain \(D(\mathcal{T})\subseteq \mathcal{D}\). There are two characteristic aspects of a solvable form on H. One is that the domain of the form can be turned into a reexive Banach space that need not be a Hilbert space. The second one is that represe…
MR3667002 Reviewed Vogt, Dietmar(D-BUW) Hadamard operators on D′(Ω). (English summary) Math. Nachr. 290 (2017), no. 8-9, 1374–1380. 46F10 (46F12 47B3…
2017
In this paper, the Hadamard operators, i.e. a particular class of continuous linear operators on D′(Ω) whose set of eigenvectors is the class of monomials, are considered on an open set Ω⊂Rd. Specifically, Hadamard operators L are characterized by the multiplicative convolution, that is, there exists a distribution T such that L(S)=S⋆T, where the multiplicative convolution ⋆ is defined by (S⋆T)ϕ=Sy(Txϕ(xy)). To obtain this characterization, the author defines a particular extension to D(Ω˜), where Ω˜:=⋃a∈RdaΩ, of the transpose of Hadamard operators. This result is a generalization of a previous work of the author where only the case Ω=Rd was considered.
Design of EMI Filters Using Multi-Objective Optimization
2018
A multi-objective design procedure for EMI filters in power converters is proposed. In a first step, the results obtained by an automatic design of EMI filters for power electronic converters oriented to satisfy the electromagnetic compatibility standards and the power density constraint which impose the minimization of the filter volume and/or weight, are evaluated. In a second step, the power losses and the cost related to the EMI filter configurations are estimated. By using the dominance concept, the EMI filter designs which are part of the Pareto front are selected among a discrete set of feasible configurations. Therefore, the configurations of the Pareto front take into consideration…
