An IPMSM torque/weight and torque/moment of inertia ratio optimization
2014
In this paper, a torque/weight and torque/moment of inertia ratio optimization procedure for interior permanent magnet syncronous motors (IPMSMs) is presented. More in detail, a performance comparison between several IPMSM rotor structures has been carried out in order to determine the optimum geometry that can maximize the torque/weight and torque/moment of inertia ratios. A commercial motor, with known electrical and mechanical characteristics, has been taken as reference. Its rotor structure has been modified several times, obtaining different rotor geometries and, therefore, many IPMSM models with different electrical and mechanical characteristics. The finite element method (FEM) analy…
Assessment of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Propensity towards HPV Vaccine of Young Adult Students in Italy
2020
Background: Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI), representing the main cause of genital warts and cervical cancer. This cross-sectional study evaluated knowledge and attitudes about HPV infection, related diseases, and prevention and propensity towards HPV vaccine among undergraduate students. Methods: An online and written survey about HPV and its prevention, targeted to young adults of both genders, was addressed to students attending health sciences and other schools at Universities of Genoa and Bari. Results: The overall median knowledge and attitude scores were 56.3% (25&ndash
Reflecting on Work Values with Young Unemployed Adults in Finland
2019
In this article, we explore the internal conversations about the work values of young unemployed adults in Finland. We draw on the theoretical concept of internal conversation by Margaret Archer in order to shift the focus from the individual work values to the interplay between subjective concerns and structural circumstances. The data consist of six group interviews conducted among 29 young unemployed adults. We argue that the internal conversations on work values of young unemployed adults constitute five significant concerns: self-realization and opportunity to contribute to society; sufficient income to live independently; social expectations; challenges of finding employment; and unsu…
Longitudinal associations among cardiorespiratory fitness and objectively measured moderate-to-vigorous physical activity of Finnish schoolchildren
2022
Children and adolescents' engagement in physical activity has decreased in most Western countries across the previous three decades. Therefore, increasing number of researchers are investigating antecedents of physical activity engagement in childhood and adolescence. This longitudinal study investigated if cardiorespiratory fitness measured at Grade 5 explained objectively measured moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) at grade 7. nonPeerReviewed
Measuring Performance in the Luxury Industry: Is there a Difference in Performance Between the top and Bottom Players in the Industry?
2021
Abstract This paper presents a methodology that consists of a Z-score function applied on a set of indicators for the luxury industry and then standardized to obtain a ranking of the companies on a scale between 10 and 100. To measure the performance for the top 5 LVMH, Estee Lauder, Richemont, Kering, Essilor Luxottica, and bottom 5 Aeffe, Tribhovandas, Van de Velde, Mulberry, Trinity companies (based on Deloitte global ranking in 2019) in the luxury industry and to unveil which are the performance drivers. By applying this methodology it can be made a comparison in performance between the top and the bottom companies in the luxury industry. The performance score is calculated for ten year…

Properties of zeros of solutions to third order nonlinear differential equations
2013
We investigate the behavior of zeros of solutions to the certain type of third order nonlinear differential equations. We show that the behavior of zeros may be rather different and depend on the nature of nonlinearity in the equation. Main results in the paper are illustrated with a number of examples.

Data envelopment and school effectiveness: contract teachers' efficiency compared to civil servants in the Education for all process) In the context of EFA process, countries, in general the most depressed LDC, both constrained by scarcity of funding and urgency for expanding school access have set up new tracks for teacher recruitment on annually renewable contracts. Those teachers are often not professionally trained in regards with traditional pedagogical curricula. They receive much lower salaries than regular civil service teachers. This has been a controversial policy, but there is very limited evidence on the effectiveness or failure of contract teachers in improving student learning…
Obesity and survival in operable breast cancer patients treated with adjuvant anthracyclines and taxanes according to pathological subtypes: a pooled…
2013
Obesity is an unfavorable prognostic factor in breast cancer (BC) patients regardless of menopausal status and treatment received. However, the association between obesity and survival outcome by pathological subtype requires further clarification. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis including 5,683 operable BC patients enrolled in four randomized clinical trials (GEICAM/9906, GEICAM/9805, GEICAM/2003-02, and BCIRG 001) evaluating anthracyclines and taxanes as adjuvant treatments. Our primary aim was to assess the prognostic effect of body mass index (BMI) on disease recurrence, breast cancer mortality (BCM), and overall mortality (OM). A secondary aim was to detect differences o…
