Motherhood‐induced gene expression in the mouse medial amygdala: Changes induced by pregnancy and lactation but not by pup stimuli

During lactation, adult female mice display aggressive responses toward male intrud-ers, triggered by male- derived chemosensory signals. This aggressive behavior is not shown by pup- sensitized virgin females sharing pup care with dams. The genetic mechanisms underlying the switch from attraction to aggression are unknown. The reactivity of neonatal rabbits to the mammary pheromone as a probe for viability

International audience; Newborn rabbits depend on a daily nursing interaction with the mother to gain milk and to survive. During this interaction, they localise and seize the nipples displaying a typical behaviour triggered by maternal odour cues. The mammary pheromone constitutes such a signal in domestic rabbits: it elicits sucking-related movements in more than 90% of the pups. Physical inactivity increases oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and atherosclerosis.

Objective— Sedentary lifestyle is associated with increased cardiovascular events. The underlying molecular mechanisms are incompletely understood. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) contribute to endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. An important source of vascular ROS is the NADPH oxidase. Methods and Results— C57BL6 mice were subjected to regular housing (physical inactivity) or voluntary training on running wheels (6 weeks). Más que por un animalismo strictu sensu, la obra de Patrick Modiano se caracteriza por un profundo animalismo latente, en consonancia con una escritura minimalista marcada por la atenuación y por la poética de la ambigüedad. La investigación desvela cómo los cuentos de Marcel Aymé aportan a su imaginario de lector infantil un mundo en el que los animales viven y dialogan con una pareja de hermanas con las que el pequeño Modiano se identifica junto a Rudy, su hermano pequeño. Particularmente, a nivel cardiovascular, nuestro laboratorio ha demostrado que p27 protege frente al desarrollo de aterosclerosis en modelos murinos gracias a su función anti-proliferativa (1, 2).
