Fotovoz como metodología innovadora en educación superior

2022

The adaptation to the EHEA has demanded the emer…

MoSi2 laser cladding—elaboration, characterisation and addition of non-stabilized ZrO2 powder particles

2003

International audience; The cladding process using laser beam radiation comprises different operational regimes, depending on the involved lasers (usually CO2 or Nd:YAG) and materials. A series of experiments has been carried out to investigate Nd:YAG laser cladding using MoSi2 powder. Procedures and operating parameters for producing clad layers has been developed and their properties evaluated. The feasibility of the laser cladding technique, using a high power Nd:YAG laser, by projecting MoSi2 powder on steel substrate was demonstrated. The results indicate a low density of cracks, elevated powder catchment efficiency (between 65 and 90%) and hardness values around 1200–1300 HV. Our goal…

On Duality in Learning and the Selection of Learning Teams

1996

AbstractPrevious work in inductive inference dealt mostly with finding one or several machines (IIMs) that successfully learn collections of functions. Herein we start with a class of functions and considerthe learner setof all IIMs that are successful at learning the given class. Applying this perspective to the case of team inference leads to the notion ofdiversificationfor a class of functions. This enable us to distinguish between several flavours of IIMs all of which must be represented in a team learning the given class.

Positive Versions of Polynomial Time

1998

Abstract We show that restricting a number of characterizations of the complexity class P to be positive (in natural ways) results in the same class of (monotone) problems, which we denote by posP . By a well-known result of Razborov, posP is a proper subclass of the class of monotone problems in P . We exhibit complete problems for posP via weak logical reductions, as we do for other logically defined classes of problems. Our work is a continuation of research undertaken by Grigni and Sipser, and subsequently Stewart; indeed, we introduce the notion of a positive deterministic Turing machine and consequently solve a problem posed by Grigni and Sipser.

The expressive power of the shuffle product

2010

International audience; There is an increasing interest in the shuffle product on formal languages, mainly because it is a standard tool for modeling process algebras. It still remains a mysterious operation on regular languages.Antonio Restivo proposed as a challenge to characterize the smallest class of languages containing the singletons and closed under Boolean operations, product and shuffle. This problem is still widely open, but we present some partial results on it. We also study some other smaller classes, including the smallest class containing the languages composed of a single word of length 2 which is closed under Boolean operations and shuffle by a letter (resp. shuffle by a l…

Stochastic Stability Analysis for Markovian Jump Neutral Nonlinear Systems

2012

In this paper, the stability problem is studied for a class of Markovian jump neutral nonlinear systems with time-varying delay. By Lyapunov-Krasovskii function approach, a novel mean-square exponential stability criterion is derived for the situations that the system's transition rates are completely accessible, partially accessible and non-accessible, respectively. Moreover, the developed stability criterion is extended to the systems with different bounded sector nonlinear constraints. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Filtering design for two-dimensional Markovian jump systems with state-delays and deficient mode information

2014

This paper is concerned with the problem of H"~ filtering for a class of two-dimensional Markovian jump linear systems described by the Fornasini-Marchesini local state-space model. The systems under consideration are subject to state-delays and deficient mode information in the Markov chain. The description of deficient mode information is comprehensive that simultaneously includes the exactly known, partially unknown and uncertain transition probabilities. By invoking the properties of the transition probability matrix, together with the convexification of uncertain domains, a new H"~ performance analysis criterion for the filtering error system is firstly derived. Then, via some matrix i…

Impact of chaotic dynamics on the performance of metaheuristic optimization algorithms : An experimental analysis

2022

Random mechanisms including mutations are an internal part of evolutionary algorithms, which are based on the fundamental ideas of Darwin's theory of evolution as well as Mendel's theory of genetic heritage. In this paper, we debate whether pseudo-random processes are needed for evolutionary algorithms or whether deterministic chaos, which is not a random process, can be suitably used instead. Specifically, we compare the performance of 10 evolutionary algorithms driven by chaotic dynamics and pseudo-random number generators using chaotic processes as a comparative study. In this study, the logistic equation is employed for generating periodical sequences of different lengths, which are use…

Stability of genetic regulatory networks with time-varying delay: Delta operator method

2015

This paper investigates the stability problem for a class of uncertain genetic regulatory networks (GRNs) with time-varying delay via delta operator approach. Both the parameter uncertainty and the generalized activations are considered in the model under study. By constructing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, the stability and robust stability conditions of GRNs are presented under the delta operator frame. These conditions can be expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is employed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
