Abstract This contribution aims to comment on chromaticism by analysing the principal colours as they are mentioned in the landscape descriptions of the maqāmāt of the type munāẓarāt composed in the Yemen of the post-classical era. The colours are mainly manifested in the depictions of the garden area, but can also be characterising of certain vegetal types that sometimes play the main role in these texts. Second Language Interference during First Language Processing by Arabic-English Bilinguals.

The research investigated whether a bilinguals’ second language (L2) is activated during a task involving only the first language (L1). We tested the hypothesis that the amount of L2 interference can vary across settings, with less interference occurring in testing locations where L2 is rarely used. In Experiment 1, we compared language processing for 50 Arabic–English bilinguals tested in Saudi Arabia and 49 Arabic–English tested in the United States. In the task, participants viewed a picture and judged whether a phoneme presented over headphones was part of the L1 picture name. The results showed no effect of testing location on processing. Depolymerising hemicellulose into platform sugar molecules is a key step in developing the concept of an integrated biorefinery. This reaction is traditionally catalysed by either enzymes or homogeneous mineral acids. We compared various solid catalysts for hemicellulose hydrolysis, running reactions in water, under neutral pH and relatively mild temperature and pressure (120°C and 10 bar) conditions. Sulphonated resins are highly active, but they leach out sulphonic groups. Sulphonated silicas are less active, but more stable. How composition and process parameters affect volatile active compounds in biopolymer films

Abstract Active edible films based on chitosan and containing an active aroma compound have been investigated. The influence of the composition of the film forming solution (solvent, plasticizers, nanoparticles, emulsifiers and aroma traps) and process parameters (temperature and viscosity) on drying kinetics, water content, colour, aroma compound retention and partition coefficient was studied. Solvent evaporation rate was increased by addition of ethanol. Water evaporation was delayed by glycerol. The aroma retention during film drying was directly related to the water content. The aim of this research was to explore the relationship between the push, pull, anti-push, and anti-pull factors vs. early retirement intention among Saudi medical staff, and to investigate whether there are gender differences in the early retirement intention. To this end, we designed a correlational and cross-sectional study, for which data were collected through an online survey.
