Private archives of noble families from the border Podlasie and Lublin and Lithuania in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. (The collection of Z…

2016

The primary source of knowledge in the subject careers are documents and files stored in the archives of the once private. Their pieces are among others in the ECR Zygmunt Gloger. Its advantage is a large variety. We find in the genealogical material and economic, excerpts from books municipal and earthly, worldly goods inventories, inventories of movable property, correspondence, and sources resulting from the functioning of the judiciary. Here are excerpts private archives rich in genealogical material and economic. The chronological range of content „Compendium Zygmunt Gloger” includes the era of traditional Polish as well as centuries XIX and XX (l. 1515–1907). Geographically it concern…

"Tea for two": the Archive of the Italian Latinity of the Middle Ages meets the CLARIN infrastructure

2020

This paper aims at showing how integrating the Archive of the Italian Latinity of the Middle Ages (ALIM) into the ILC4CLARIN repository can provide mutual benefits. Making ALIM available to a large community of scholars and researchers, on the one side, represents the first step to reduce the lack of resources for Medieval Latin in CLARIN and, on the other side, constitutes an unprecedented contribution to not only linguistic investigations, but also to the studies of the culture and science at the basis of the Western European society. The paper describes the adopted approach aiming to keep intact the structure of the archive and its metadata, which are both accurately mirrored into the IL…

Document Word Clouds: Visualising Web Documents as Tag Clouds to Aid Users in Relevance Decisions

2009

Περιέχει το πλήρες κείμενο Information Retrieval systems spend a great effort on determining the significant terms in a document. When, instead, a user is looking at a document he cannot benefit from such information. He has to read the text to understand which words are important. In this paper we take a look at the idea of enhancing the perception of web documents with visualisation techniques borrowed from the tag clouds of Web 2.0. Highlighting the important words in a document by using a larger font size allows to get a quick impression of the relevant concepts in a text. As this process does not depend on a user query it can also be used for explorative search. A user study showed, th…

Association between food insecurity and fall-related injury among adults aged ≥65 years in low- and middle-income countries: The role of mental healt…

2021

Purpose:\ud \ud We investigated the association between food insecurity and fall-related injury among older adults from six low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and the extent to which this association is mediated by mental health.\ud \ud Methods:\ud \ud Cross-sectional, community-based, nationally representative data from the WHO Study on global AGEing and adult health (SAGE) were analyzed. Past 12-month food insecurity was assessed with two questions on frequency of eating less and hunger due to lack of food. Fall-related injury referred to those that occurred in the past 12 months. Multivariable logistic regression analysis and mediation analysis were conducted to assess association…

Victimisation and life satisfaction of gay and bisexual individuals in 44 European countries: the moderating role of country-level and person-level a…

2018

We examined the link between victimisation and life satisfaction for 85,301 gay and bisexual individuals across 44 European countries. We expected this negative link to be stronger when the internalised homonegativity of the victim was high (e.g. because the victim is more vulnerable) and weaker when victimisation occurs in countries that express intolerance towards homosexuality (e.g. because in such contexts victims expect victimisation more and they attribute it to their external environment). Additionally, we expected internalised homonegativity to relate negatively to life satisfaction. Multilevel analyses revealed that victimisation (i.e. verbal insults, threats of violence, minor or …

Mixed-Valence Defect Ferrites : a New Family of Fine Powders and Thin Films of Spinel Ferrites

1997

When highly divided spinel ferrites become reactive enough with oxygen, to allow the oxidation of the Fe 2+ ions at low temperature and of substitute cations too, when these cations are capable of different valence states. We prepared fine particles of spinel ferrites substituted by Mn, Mo, Cu, by chimie douce, especially from oxalate precursors and used them to reveal and to study the oxido-reduction phenomena occurring in these finely divided materials. It was shown that the oxidation created a new family of spinel ferrites : the mixed-valence defect ferrites, having specific characteristics and properties. The ferrites of this type can be fine powders prepared at low temperature, or grou…

Small angle neutron scattering on periodically deformed polymers

1984

Small angle neutron scattering from periodically deformed samples is a useful extension of the methods presently available for the study of molecular dynamics of polymers. In this paper we describe apparatus that has been used to produce large cyclic deformations at frequencies upto 10 Hz and the principles by which data is collected to give spectra corresponding to different states of strain of the sample. Some data on model polydimethylsiloxane networks is given as an illustration of the value of this technique.

Recent warming in the Balearic Sea and Spanish Mediterranean coast. Towards an earlier and longer summer

2015

This paper analyses recent changes in the temperature of the Balearic Sea and surrounding coastal areas. Monthly temperature data from several weather stations located around the Balearic basin have been used to obtain land temperatures during the period 1960-2010, and monthly thermal satellite images from the Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) covering the period 1985-2009 have been processed to obtain sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the Balearic Sea. A rise in temperature has been observed since 1980 and increasingly in the last 25 years, with an average warming trend of 0.039 ºC/year on land for the period 1960-2010 and 0.026 ºC/year in SSTs for 1985-200…

Description of Klebsiella spallanzanii sp. nov. and of Klebsiella pasteurii sp. nov

2019

AbstractKlebsiella oxytocacauses opportunistic human infections and post-antibiotic haemorrhagic diarrhoea. ThisEnterobacteriaceaespecies is genetically heterogeneous and is currently subdivided into seven phylogroups (Ko1 to Ko4, Ko6 to Ko8). Here we investigated the taxonomic status of phylogroups Ko3 and Ko4. Genomic sequence-based phylogenetic analyses demonstrate that Ko3 and Ko4 formed well-defined sequence clusters related to, but distinct from,Klebsiella michiganensis(Ko1),Klebsiella oxytoca(Ko2),K. huaxiensis(Ko8) andK. grimontii(Ko6). The average nucleotide identity of Ko3 and Ko4 were 90.7% withK. huaxiensisand 95.5% withK. grimontii, respectively. In addition, three strains ofK.…
