This contribution presents the preliminary work, carried out over the past few months, concerning the reconstructive study of the paintings and mosaics of the Centennial House ", Insula IX-8, in Pompeii. In particular, the work focused on the decorated surfaces of 11 rooms located along the western part of the house, between the large central peristyle and the centenary alley. I deal with visuals, and I would like to show how, starting out from the visual aspect as a key element of Western society, we may attempt to understand how digitality (both in terms of technology and thought) has brought about revolutionary change in our society, altering cultural, social, and economic paradigms... I would also like to show how the archive, and all that may be understood as such, has become the cultural logic of our time, in the form of the database.

Il testo prende in esame il complesso di materiali editi e inediti (fonti storiche e archivistiche, documenti musicali, testimonianze etnografiche) che attestano la presenza del tarantismo in Sicilia dalla metà del Seicento alla fine dell’Ottocento. Il caso siciliano viene quindi inquadrato nell’ambito dell’ampia letteratura che ruota intorno al fenomeno, a partire dal classico studio di Ernesto De Martino fino al dibattito sull’interpretazione del fenomeno fra i poli dell’esorcismo e della possessione, dovuto soprattutto all’etnomusicologo francese Gilber Rouget. André Guillou began publishing the Greek documents of Southern Italy shortly before the appearance of the third volume of the Archives de l’Athos (Actes de Xéropotamou, 1964). The first volume, published in 1963, was followed by six other in the series Corpus des actes grecs d’Italie du Sud et de Sicile (1974–2009). Additional publications have appeared since then. Thanks to this editorial work we may now attempt a comparison of the Italian documentary body with the already well-known Athonite material, which may permit a better understanding of the regional particularities of the documents. Patterning of Suitable Structures for the Investigation of the Josephson Effect in YBa2Cu3O7/PrBa2Cu3O7 Superlattices

The aim of our work is to investigate the Josephson effect in YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-δ /PrBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-δ superlattices. In the case of current flow along c axis direction the superlattice forms an array of artificial Josephson junctions where the YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-δ layers are the superconducting electrodes which are separated but Josephson coupled by the PrBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-δ sheets. In this paper we report on the preparation, characterisation and patterning of the superlattices into suitable structures via standard photolithograpy and lift-off technique.

Abstract. The paper presents the results of a research aiming at proving the efficacy of perspective restitution from photos for the reconstruction of buildings and sites that disappeared in the past century. The case study is the town of Messina, sited at the north-eastern corner of Sicily (Italy), facing the homonymous strait that divides Sicily from the Italian peninsula; in 1908 Messina and Reggio Calabria, at the opposite side of the strait, were levelled to the ground by a powerful earthquake, followed by a tsunami.No building or monument survived the destruction: a new town with the same name took the site of Messina.
