Più che una lontana analogia. Psicoanalisi, techne e retorica greca.
2010
The eikos between Logic and Rhetoric. A Comparison between Aristotle and the Rhetorica ad Alexandrum.
2010
The paper proposes a comparison between the Aristotelian concept of eikos and that which is found in the Rhetorica ad Alexandrum. The aim is to shed light upon both the differences between the two perspectives and their relative continuity in relation to the prior tradition. The basic assumption is that the rhetorical notion of eikos has theoretical worth and many philosophical questions revolve around it. The boundary between philosophy and rhetoric is much less defined than what a long tradition has led us to believe.

Grassland fire effect on soil organic carbon reservoirs in semiarid environment.
2011
The effect of fire on soil organic matter content is highly variable and depends on several factors including fire intensity, soil type and nature of burned material. Grassland in semiarid environment are often managed by shepherds with annual burning in order to enhance pasture recovery. The aim of this work was investigating the effect of fire as grassland management tool on soil organic carbon (SOC) reservoirs and on post-fire plant recovery. The study was conducted on Hyparrenia hirta grassland and Ampelodesma mauritanicus grassland, located in the Province of Palermo, in the north of Sicily. Soil samples were collected at two depth (0-5 and 5-20 cm) before and after experimental fire a…

Self-regulated learning, self-efficacy beliefs and performance during the late childhood
2010
This article analyzes relations between self-regulated learning, self-efficacy beliefs, and performance in tasks of solving arithmetic problems. The research includes 268 six-year-old students enrolled in the first year of primary school in Spain. The results from binary logistic regression models indicate that self-regulated learning and its interaction with self-efficacy beliefs predict performance. Finally, the cluster analysis shows four profiles of students: i) positive adjusted; ii) negative unadjusted I; iii) negative unadjusted II y; iv) negative adjusted..
