La nouvelle muséologie mène t-elle au parc ?

2011

French Fries, French Foxes and Crazy Frenchmen in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994) and Roger Avary's Killing Zoe (1994) : Reading Hollywood “F…

2010

International audience; This article focuses on the representation of Frenchness in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Roger Avary's Killing Zoe, which were both released in 1994 and made by directors who regularly collaborated at the time. The treatment of Frenchness is different in both films, Pulp Fiction containing several anecdotal references and one French character, while Killing Zoe takes place in France with an almost exclusively European cast. The representation of Frenchness in these films will be my starting point to determine the readings possible for a spectator who is or is not familiar with French and French culture. “Frenchness,” which Pierre Verdaguer has shown is genera…

La stylistique sémiotique d’Umberto Eco

2012

2014

International audience; The recurring presence of original objects in graves from all periods is a fact and evidence that some have been imported can be determined by archaeologists from the decoration on these objects, and by how and from what they were made. In funerary contexts, these objects can distinguish certain burial rites from others as they are markers of exchanges between different communities often established and controlled by the elite. In this paper, we will present some examples illustrating this link between power and the exchange of these objects.

Huoli kuvasta : merkitys, mieli, materiaalisuus

2017

This research is a hybrid of a monograph and a multiple-article dissertation. Its theoretical starting point is a phenomenologically based view of the being of the image, in which Georges Didi-Huberman´s work plays a central role. For him, as well as for Mieke Bal, a historical work of art is never only in the distant past only but also exists in the present actuality. This makes the temporality of the Image extremely complex. The Image can be encountered only “pre-posterously” (Bal) or by reading it “against the grain” (Didi-Huberman). The Image is necessarily anachronistic; it is not in time but opens up time. This fact should be taken into account not only in art history, but also in art…

Tissage et métissage. Le textile dans l’art (XIXe-XXe siècles)

2011
