This article discusses Conrad’s Anglophone linguistic identity to show how writing became his “promised land” and fictional homeplace. This fictional retreat reflects his childhood experience, (connected with his Polish background), hopes, and fears, but it is likewise refracted through episodes of his later life. Regional concentration of university graduates : The role of high school grades and parental background

In this paper, we analyse long-term changes in the regional distribution and migration flows of university graduates in Finland and Sweden. This study is based on detailed longitudinal population register data, including information on high school grades and parental background. We find a distinct pattern of skill divergence across regions in both countries over the last 3 decades. The uneven distribution of human capital has been reinforced by the mobility patterns of university graduates, for whom regional sorting by high school grades and parental background is evident. This study reviewed the socio-economic backgrounds of pupils from various family structures (Monogamous, polygamous, single-parent and orphan children) against their academic performances in Ibadan North-East municipality of Ibadan, Nigeria. Tutkimus käsittelee yhteisöstä erottamisen ja siihen takaisinliittymisen mahdollisuuksia rikostaustaisten naisten elämässä. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat rikostaustaisten naisten kertomukset elämänkulustaan. Tutkimuksessa analysoidaan naisten kertomuksia siirtymäriittiteorian eli yhteisöstä erottamisen, liminaalin ja takaisinliittämisen näkökulmasta. Acute Neuromuscular and Hormonal Responses to Power, Strength, and Hypertrophic Protocols and Training Background

This study investigated how two slightly different athlete groups would differ in acute neuromuscular and endocrine responses to specific resistance exercise loadings and recovery compared to untrained participants. Power athletes (PA, n = 8), strength athletes (SA, n = 8) and non-athletes (NA, n = 7) performed power (PL, 7 × 6 × 50% of 1RM), maximal strength (MSL, 7 × 3 × 3RM), and hypertrophic (HL, 5 × 10 × 10RM) loadings in Smith-machine back-squat.
